HI! I'M AL.
I’m an artist based in chicago. I graduated from north park university in 2015 with my BA in fine arts and almost immediately entered into the corporate world. since then, I've worked for a few different companies as an executive assistant and most recently as an operations specialist. in late january 2023, the company I had been at for almost three years laid off 30% of the company, and I was part of that. aside from the security of financial stability, I felt a bit relieved once I was able to spend the majority of my days making art, exploring different mediums, and reading and learning about artists. since then, I've worked to balance my days between art, bartending, and remote virtual assistant work, which I'm happy to say I've thoroughly enjoyed each of these avenues. while art is not my full-time job, and getting laid off *sucked*, I'm thankful the universe gave me a bit of a break to pursue my creativity again.
sharing my work has always been tough for me, but I’m hoping this space will help me work through that fear. I’ve been listening and watching other creators share their journeys in making art a career, and it’s been incredibly fun and inspiring.
I’m excited to have this space to document my experiences.
thanks for being here!
